3,2,1...3 School, 2 Family, 1 World - 27th April
A weekly newsletter from an 11 year old trying to balance school, parents, activities & the world…and of course, homework. An honest description of how I see the world.
~3 on School~
So in music class this week, we started to sing in the first time in almost 2 years because of Covid! But now the government has allowed it so this week was the first time in class we sang! There was this singing exercise that we did where we all say a sentence continuously and in the right rhythm all the time, while mixing up the letters for the sentence. AND as a class we had to get it ALL right! It looked easy at first but when we actually got to do it, it was WAY harder😳! The teacher said “None of my classes have managed to do this so I can guarantee that you will lose on your first few tries! But keep the positive attitude!” Of course after that “awesome” inspirational speech, everyone was motivated!🤣
Lately in my school, the craze has been handball. In G4, only a few people would play it, but now in G5, almost everyone does! So my friends and I were playing handball today, and my friend had hit it really hard that the ball went flying out of the court! So then the people in the opposite court who the ball flew to got the ball and threw it at us! But instead of catching it perfectly (which I do like, 3% of the time) the ball went through my friends legs and then past the boundary gates!
Another thing that happened at school is that we were in the middle of class, (UoS, which stands for Unit of Study) when I was rocking my chair, only lightly while the teacher was talking and taking notes, but I accidentally knocked my chair too far and I almost fell backwards off my chair! The girl sitting next to me quickly grabbed me before I could totally fall!!🤣😄😁
~2 on Family~
During the easter holidays, my family and I went to East Coast Park, (ecp) and played in the beach for almost 2 hours! It was really fun. Then my brother and I went scootering while our parents were waling behind us! Then once on the way back we went so fast that when we stopped at the end, we couldn’t see them! And they said we had to stay in their sight line at all times. So then we had to go halfway back the trail, then all the way back to the end! 😂😂
Also during the holidays we went to Luge in Sentosa, and it was AWESOME!! My Dad and I were the only ones who had done it before, my brother was super excited but my Mom was scared! So we managed to convince her to come to it, but there was a huge flyover (called Skyride) that we had to go on and on that Mama was super brave and excited! Then when it was time to go on the actual Luge ride, so my Mom and my brother rode in one cart, with my Dad and I in separate ones because we were old enough. So then they said “GO!” and we WENT! IT WAS SO THRILLING!! I recommend it for ANYONE!
~1 on World~ Climate Change Action~
On March 26th 2021, President Biden invited 40 world leaders to the Leaders Summit on Climate he hosted on April 22 and 23. The virtual Leaders Summit was live streamed for public viewing. President Biden took action his first day in office to return the United States to the Paris Agreement. An agreement to stop climate change before it reaches above 1.5 Celsius, which scientists call the point of no return. Days later, on January 27, he announced that he would soon convene a leaders summit to galvanise efforts by the major economies to tackle the climate crisis. The Summit will reconvene the U.S. led Major Economies Forum on Energy and Climate, which brings together 17 countries responsible for approximately 80 percent of global emissions and global GDP. The President also invited the heads of other countries that are demonstrating strong climate leadership, are especially vulnerable to climate impacts, or are charting innovative pathways to a net-zero economy. A small number of business and civil society leaders will also participate in the Summit. This is a big step forward in stopping climate change!
